I have never used a blog before. I wish I had of discovered blogs when I was living overseas. It would be a very good tool for people who are travelling so people from home can keep up with their moves. I am about to start to renovate my house, so I am thinking of creating a blog so my best friend who lives in Washington can keep up to date with our renovations.
I am not sure I would have it as a public blog. I would probably just email the link to people who I wanted to have access.The hardest thing I find about Blogs in actually having time to sit down and write a proper entry. I don’t have access to Blogspot at work and that is where I spend the majority of my time on the net. So I think that if I did set up a blog, I would probably keep it up for about 3 weeks then, get busy and forget about it

HTML Task
I have just completed the HTML task. I found the tutorial very easy to follow and that is was a very good resource for me as a first time HTMLer.
When I started to do my own page, I felt a sense of accomplishment every time I would hit the refresh button in the browser. I did a very basic page as I didn’t want to spend too much time on it.
HTML is a lot more tedious that blogging. You have to make sure you get every code exactly right or it won’t work. Blogging is much simpler it is just a matter of typing your thoughts and hitting post!

Chat Task
I have recently joined ICQ and joined a chat with fellow students last night. I found the conversation to be very fast paced. We had about 7 students in the conversation so at times it was difficult to keep up with the conversation.
I used to live in the United States and my now fiancée lived back in Sydney, so most evening we would use either msn chat or Skype chat to communicate for free. It is much easier when you only there are only two people having the conversation rather than in a big group like I did last night. I also used Skype to talk to my parents rather than using the phone. This was a fantastic resource and allowed me to speak to my parents every evening when I got home from work. I think that IRC is a fantastic resource especially for contacting people who are overseas or interstate. It is a free service and you get an instant response. It is my favourite method of communicated using the internet.
I do not really have a preference when it comes to using IRCs. I think all have there pros and cons. As long as it is a reliable service which allows instantaneous replies, I am sold!

I browsed through Topica and discovered that it was a lot like the email lists I use at work except at work, the email lists are heavily monitored and there are strict rules relating to content.
I am also a frequent subscriber to various email lists like Ticketek and various internet shopping websites that inform me when tickets are available for purchase or when they have a big sale in there online stores.
The advantage of communicating by email lists is that it is very simple. You can email information to people who are interested and who want to read it.
The main disadvantage of email lists are that some posts may steer off topic and become offensive to other readers.
